Dr. Robin Meek, MD

Founder and Medical Director

Dr. Meek completed her undergraduate studies at West Virginia Wesleyan College, receiving a B.S in Biology. After graduation, she was employed by WVWC as a laboratory assistant to the biology department. Dr. Meek subsequently graduated from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, West Virginia. During medical school, she was fortunate to work in a Christian medical mission hospital in Nazareth, Israel.

She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia and then served as Chief Medical Resident at the same institution. She is Board certified in Internal Medicine. Following her residency, Dr. Meek became a faculty member at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in the Internal Medicine Department and worked there as an Associate Professor of Medicine for over 20 years, training future physicians and seeing her own patients. While at the University of Kentucky, she helped develop the Center for Women’s Health, an internal medicine group designed to deliver primary care to women.

Due to her own health struggle with autoimmune disease, Dr. Meek sought solutions outside of conventional medicine to improve her condition. Through that journey, she became familiar with the Institute for Functional Medicine and has since completed the educational requirements for certification from IFM. Functional Medicine has been transformative in the way she addresses medical problems and health. Instead of treating disease, her focus is on creating health, using food as medicine and supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Instead of just putting a label on a patient’s symptoms and trying to minimize them with medication, her focus is finding the root cause and working with the patient to return them to health. Autoimmune disease, gut health and athletic performance are her main interests.

Dr. Meek is the mother of three grown children and grandmother of one lovely granddaughter. She and her husband, Dr. John Meek, met in medical school and have been married for 37 years. Dr. Meek is an active member in her church and has a deep personal faith that believes in wellness of heart, mind, body and soul. She has led medical mission trips to Burkina Faso, Haiti, and Uganda and has a deep love for people from all backgrounds. Her hobbies include cooking, getting outside to garden or hike, reading and finding adventures.
